MEDICAL COMMAND
PUERTO RICO STATE GUARD COMMAND
The 900th Medical Command of the Puerto Rico State Guard comprises the Medical Command Headquarters and four Medical Company Area Support (MCAS) units. These specialized medical units are attached to Puerto Rico National Guard Regional Joint Task Forces in accordance with the Joint Operation Plan (JOPLAN).
The mission of the 900th Medical Command are centered around addressing public health emergencies, encompassing scenarios such as biological terrorism and natural epidemics. Its membership is composed of duly trained and licensed healthcare professionals, along with medical support volunteers who have undergone training and preparation to provide support to the Puerto Rico National Guard and the Department of Health through emergency and specialized competencies.

MEDICAL COMPANY AREA SUPPORT (MCAS)

The Medical Support Companies are comprised of Health Care Providers who lend their support to the Puerto Rico National Guard and the Department of Health in the event of natural disasters or public health emergencies. Some of the Health Care Providers that constitute the Medical Company include Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurses, Respiratory Technicians, Pharmacist Technicians, Paramedics (EMTs), Psychologists, Epidemiologists, and other Health Care Providers. The primary missions of the Medical Company are as follows:
• Providing Mobile Medical Operations (Shelters).
• Hospital Emergency Response Teams (HERT).
• Offering training for the Search and Extraction team.
• Ensuring the medical readiness of the soldier's.
