SEPARATE UNIT'S
PUERTO RICO STATE GUARD COMMAND
All Separate Units of the Puerto Rico State Guard Command offer assistance to both the Puerto Rico National Guard and the Major Subordinate Commands (MSC) of the Puerto Rico State Guard Command. Generally, these compact military units specialize in specific tasks and are accountable to the Joint Forces.
STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS
The mission of the Strategic Communication is as follows:
• To provide technological support through internet networks.
• To provide satellite radio communications and cyber security.
• To provide support in the collection of information and facilitate its distribution to the media.
MILITARY BAND
The paramount mission of the Military Band is as follows:
To perpetuate the identity of military service, uphold military traditions, and boost morale through the rendering of fallen honors. The preeminent duty of the Band lies in the sounding of "Taps."
RECRUITMENT & RETENTION
The mission of the Recruitment & Retention is as follows:
To recruit honorable citizens who are willing and able to support the Puerto Rico State Guard Command and be deployed in times of emergency. Additionally, to ensure that all new recruits undergo processing at the Military Entrance Preprocessing Station (MEPS) for qualification prior to their enrollment in the Initial Entry Training Course, ultimately becoming active service members of the Puerto Rico State Guard Command.
MILITARY INSTITUTE
The mission of the Military Institute is as follows:
To deliver fundamental, technical, and specialized knowledge in the military doctrine of the state defense force and Emergency Management. This is accomplished by utilizing the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Emergency Management Institute (EMI) as guiding pillars of support.
The Military Institute bears the responsibility of educating all personnel within the Puerto Rico State Guard Command, spanning across Enlisted ranks, Warrant Officers, and Commissioned Officers, encompassing all hierarchical tiers.
